Membership and Registration

 What is ALABA?

The Alabama Association for Behavior Analysis was founded in 1992 to promote the ethical, humane and effective application of behavior principles in all segments of Alabama society, including education, rehabilitation, developmental disabilities, business, industry, and government. ALABA’s primary goals are to promote the profession of Behavior Analysis in the community and provide the best continuing education opportunities to members.  Our current membership includes mental retardation professionals, psychologists, behavior program supervisors, administrators, program directors, teachers, speech pathologists, direct care staff, parents, and students.

 Who is eligible for membership?

Anyone interested in the field of Behavior Analysis is welcome to join.  The ALABA membership year begins with the annual convention in the fall.  ALABA offers three categories of membership.

~ Full membership is for persons holding a college or post-graduate degree; membership fees are based on the highest degree held

~ Affiliate membership is for individuals working in a paraprofessional or direct care capacity and for family members of persons with developmental disabilities.

~ Student membership is for persons currently enrolled in a college level course of study.

~ Sustaining memberships are for persons who wish to support ALABA with a voluntary contribution.

What are the benefits of membership?

ALABA members enjoy substantially reduced registration fees for the annual convention.  Members also receive a quarterly newsletter that contains news about activities of the organization, reviews of books of interest to Behavior Analysts, articles offering educational information about the science of behavior analysis and its applications, and information about the Association for Behavior Analysis (ABA), the international organization of which ALABA is an affiliated chapter.  Members of ALABA are eligible for Chapter/Adjunct membership in ABA.
