| The 2008 ALABA convention will be held at the Marriott Auburn Opelika Hotel and Conference Center at Grand National, located at 3700 Robert Trent Jones Trail, Opelika, Alabama. Keynote Speaker Announced |
|
ALABA is excited to announce that the keynote speaker for the 2008 conference will be Gina Green, Ph.D., BCBA. Dr. Green received a Ph.D. in Psychology (Analysis of Behavior) from Utah State University in 1986 following undergraduate and master's degree studies at Michigan State University. She has been a faculty member in Behavior Analysis and Therapy at Southern Illinois University; Director of Research at the New England Center for Children in Southborough, Massachusetts; Associate Scientist at the E. K. Shriver Center for Mental Retardation in Waltham, Massachusetts; and Research Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Pediatrics, University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Green is currently in private practice in San Diego as a consultant and is on the faculty at San Diego State University and the University of North Texas. She has authored numerous publications on the treatment of individuals with developmental disabilities and brain injuries, as well as the experimental analysis of behavior. Dr. Green co-edited the books Behavioral Intervention for Young Children with Autism and Making a Difference: Behavioral Intervention for Autism. She serves or has served on the editorial boards of several professional journals in developmental disabilities and behavior analysis. Dr. Green also serves on the Board of Trustees and the Autism Advisory Group of the Cambridge Center for Behavioral Studies, the Board of Directors of the Behavior Analyst Certification Board, and the advisory boards of several autism programs and organizations. She is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst, former president of the Association for Behavior Analysis, past president of the California Association for Behavior Analysis, and a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and the Council for Scientific Medicine and Mental Health. Psychology Today named her "Mental Health Professional of the Year" in 2000. In 2005 she received an honorary Doctor of Science degree from The Queen's University of Belfast, Northern Ireland. Dr. Green lectures and consults widely on autism and related disorders, behavioral research, and effective interventions for people with disabilities. |

| Dr. Kimberly Crosland is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and an Assistant Professor in the Division of Applied Research and Educational Support (DARES), Department of Child and Family Studies. She has a Ph.D. in Developmental and Child Psychology from the University of Kansas. Dr. Crosland is the research director for the Behavior Analysis Services Program (BASP). The BASP, in collaboration with the University of Florida, has developed a statewide behavior analytic initiative for foster children and families, which is funded through the Department of Children and Families. The program conducts assessments of children with severe problem behaviors, develops interventions, and trains and supports caregivers in implementing positive, proactive techniques to improve the behavior and well-being of children. Dr. Croslands professional interests are in the area of behavioral assessment, research design, and developmental disabilities. Prior to coming to USF, Dr Crosland was a clinician at the Kennedy Krieger Institute/Johns Hopkins Hospital where she provided treatment evaluations for young children with autism and other developmental disabilities who were displaying challenging behaviors. Dr. Crosland has published in journals that promote knowledge in behavior analysis and developmental disabilities including the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis, Research in Developmental Disabilities, Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders, and the American Journal on Mental Retardation. She has served as a guest reviewer for both the Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis and Research in Developmental Disabilities. |

| The conference is of special interest to practitioners in behavior analysis,
psychology, regular and special education, rehabilitation, public health,
behavioral medicine, speech and language, social work, business, and human
services. Graduate and undergraduate students, and family members of
individuals with special needs are also encouraged to attend.

Continuing education contact hours will again be offered for behavior
analysts, social workers, general education, counselors, and psychologists.
A listing of contact hour opportunities will be posted online and in the
program booklet once it is solidified.
