International students are those that are not U.S. citizens and have either obtained or are in the process of obtaining some class of visa
(typically an F-1 student visa). An international student will be classified as either an International Freshmen or an
International Transfer.
Freshmen applicants are those who are currently attending or who have graduated from high school but have not
attended college (summer following high school graduation excluded).
ACT and/or SAT scores submitted directly from the testing agency (including the writing score).
TOEFL scores sent from the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Submit your official evaluated high school transcripts.
Submit an Affidavit of Financial Support.
Submit a Supporting Bank Letter.
International Transfer Applicants
Transfer applicants are those that are applying credits from another institution to Auburn University with the intention of
obtaining an Auburn University degree.
TOEFL scores sent from the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Submit your official evaluated college/university transcripts.
Submit an Affidavit of Financial Support.
Submit a Supporting Bank Letter.
Freshmen Requirements
Admission to Auburn is competitive and highly selective in all majors. Therefore, international applicants, like all
other students, must have an excellent academic record to be considered for admission.
Test Scores
The ACT or the SAT is required of all freshman international applicants,
as well as freshman transfer applicants with less than 30 semester credit hours. You are also required to submit a writing score from at least one
test date. Arrangements should be made for the test results to be sent directly to the Office of Admission by the testing agency.
The institution number for the ACT is 0011 and the number for the SAT is 1005.
Proficiency in the English Language
If English is not your native language you must show proof of English proficiency. To show proficiency you must:
Submit a TOEFL score of 79 for the internet based test OR 213 on the new computerized test OR 550 on the written paper-based test.
A band score of 6.5 or better on the IELTS is also acceptable.
Take the equivalent of English 1100 and 1120 (English Composition I/II) at an accredited U.S. institution and earn a grade of “C”
or better in both.
Graduate from a U.S. high school.
TOEFL and IELTS scores are only considered official when they are sent to the Office of Admissions
directly from the Educational Testing Service (ETS).
Academic Transcripts
International freshman students who are attending U.S. high schools can send their transcripts directly to the Office of Admission
and are not required to submit an evaluation.
All international freshman students currently attending a secondary school (high school) outside the U.S. must submit two (2) types
of their official transcripts or official records.
An official secondary school (high school) transcript translated into English by an official translation agency.
The second copy will need to be sent to an independent credential evaluator. You will need to request a document-by-document
evaluation (with a GPA) from one of the evaluators and make sure that a copy be sent to the Office of Admissions.
It is the student’s responsibility to have the documents translated and/or evaluated. Auburn University will not translate or
evaluate your academic transcripts. High school students must send an additional transcript, including final grades, after graduation.
Financial Affidavit / Supporting Bank Letter
Auburn University policies require that ALL foreign students seeking admissions into a degree program show proof of financial support
for themselves AND their dependents, which covers the cost of tuition, fees, housing, food, books, supplies, personal items, transportation
and health insurance for a minimum of 9 months. Admission will not be granted if this proof of financial support is not provided.

Login ID and Personal Identification Number (PIN)
When you begin the application, you will be asked to define your Login ID and PIN. The first is a nine-digit Login ID,
and you may select any combination of alphanumeric characters. The other component of your identification is the numeric,
six-digit, Personal Identification Number (PIN).
Note: Make sure you write the Login ID and PIN down and store them in a secure place. You will need them to return to your application or to check your
status.
Should you forget your Login ID or PIN, the Office of Admissions and Recruitment will assist you with re-acquiring them via e-mail at webadms@auburn.edu. You must include your full name and login ID (if known). Requests are normally processed in 24 hours.

Personal Identification
