Admission to Auburn is competitive and highly selective in all majors. Therefore, international applicants, like all other students, must have an excellent academic record to be considered for admission.
Students will be considered for admission when the Admissions Office has received the following:
Test Scores
The ACT or the SAT is required of all freshman applicants, as well as freshman transfer applicants with less than 30 semester credit hours. Arrangements should be made for the test results to be forwarded directly to the Office of Admissions by the testing agency.
The institution number for the ACT is 0011 and the number for the SAT is 1005.
For information and applications for the ACT, write to: American College Testing Program, Box 168, Iowa City, Iowa 52240, U.S.A. or apply online by using the registration form at http://www.act.org.
For information and applications for the SAT, write to: College board ATP, Box 592, Princeton, New Jersey 08541, U.S.A. or apply online by using the registration form at http://www.collegeboard.org.
Proficiency in the English Language (TOEFL)
If your native language is not English, you must take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL). Minimum required TOEFL score is 79 for the internet based test, 213 for the new computerized test, and 550 for the written paper-based test. TOEFL scores are considered official only when they are sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the Educational Testing Service. Examinee copies are not considered official. Arrangements for the test may be made by writing to: TOEFL, Educational Testing Service, Box 6151, Princeton, New Jersey 08541-6151, U.S.A. Follow this link to visit the TOEFL website.
While the TOEFL is preferred, the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is also accepted. Minimum required IELTS score is 6.5.
Another good resource for information is the ESL (English as a Second Language) program at Auburn.
Academic Records
All Entering Freshman and Transfer students must have two (2) copies of their official transcripts or official records sent out directly from their previous (or current) institution(s), using the steps below:
It is the student's responsibility to have documents translated and/or evaluated. Auburn University will not translate or evaluate your academic transcripts. Please note that International transfer students from U.S. universities can send their transcripts directly to the Office of Admissions and are not required to follow the steps above. High school students must send an additional transcript, including final grades, after graduation.
Transfer Coursework Requirements
Transfer students are required to have at least one year of college work (30 semester credit hours) including at least one class in History, English, Math (Pre-Calculus or higher), and Science class with lab. Additionally, transfer students need to have at least a 2.5 GPA on all college work attempted. Transfer students without these credits will not be admitted to Auburn.
The Application Fee
Each application for admission must be accompanied by a non refundable application processing fee of $60 (U.S. currency) made payable to Auburn University. Only checks drawn on U.S. banks and money orders that can be cashed at U.S. banks are acceptable. An application will not be processed without the application fee and the University does not waive or postpone this fee. If you find it difficult to submit the fee because of currency restrictions in your country, we suggest that you request a friend or relative in the U.S. to submit the fee on your behalf. You can also charge your application fee on your Visa, Mastercard, American Express, or Discover.
