Freshmen are not required to live on campus.

How do I apply to live on campus?

After you are accepted to Auburn University and have paid your $200 Admissions Deposit, you may apply for University Housing. The Office of Housing and Residence Life   will send you information about the University Housing application process soon after receipt of your $200 deposit. Keep in mind that the $200 admissions deposit is not a housing deposit nor is it a guarantee that you will receive university housing. Completion on-line of the housing application in a timely manner, will afford you the best opportunity to secure university housing.
