AUBURN BUSINESS FACULTY MEMBER HONORED BY ALMA MATER
AUBURN -- Michael LaTour, a faculty member in Auburn University's College of Business, has received a Distinguished Alumni Award for 2000 from Boise State University.
LaTour received a marketing degree from Boise State in 1978 and an MBA in 1981. He later earned his Ph.D. at the University of Mississippi.
The Torchmark Professor of Marketing and Transportation at AU, LaTour is one of the top 12 researchers nationally in the field of advertising , according to a recent study. He has had more than 50 refereed journal articles published and has won several "best paper" awards at major conferences.
In 1998, LaTour received the Alabama Association for Higher Education in Business Award for Excellence and Professional Contributions, an award given to only one business faculty from the four-year institutions in Alabama.
LaTour was among the three leaders in business, government and academe honored by Boise State with the university Alumni Association's Distinguished Alumni Award.
Thirty-nine alumni have been honored since the program began in 1988.
