ARCHITECT OF CLINTON LIBRARY - AU ALUM - RECEIVES HONOR

AUBURN -- David E. Alsobrook, an Auburn University alumnus who is helping put together the Clinton Presidential Library, has received the Award for Alumni Achievement in the Humanities from the AU College of Liberal Arts.

It is the college's highest honor.

As director of the Clinton Presidential Materials Project, Alsobrook is responsible for the arrangements that will culminate in the establishment of the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark.

Alsobrook, who earned a history degree from Auburn in 1968, previously was the director of the Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas, and was also affiliated with the Carter Presidential Library in Atlanta.

Other AU faculty, students and an alumnus were honored recently by the College of Liberal Arts during its annual awards ceremony. They included:

** Ruth Crocker, associate professor of history, Award for Faculty Achievement in the Humanities.

** George Crandell, professor of English, Teaching Effectiveness Award in the Humanities.

** Robin Jaffe, associate professor of theatre, received the Teaching Effectiveness Award in the Fine Arts.

Steven P. Brown, assistant professor in political science, Teaching Effectiveness Award in Communications and Social Sciences.

** Robert Widell, professor of political science, Advising Award.

** James Hansen, professor of history, Teaching Award in the Core Curriculum.

In addition, Milissa Ellison Muphree won the W.C. Bradley Award for Graduate Student Achievement in the Humanities, and Scott Parrott and Lindsey C. Boney IV were honored with the W.C. Bradley Awards for Undergraduate Student Achievement in the Humanities.
