AU RELIGIOUS HISTORIAN GIVEN SERVICE AWARD BY PEPPERDINE
AUBURN -- David Edwin Harrell Jr., Auburn University's Breeden Eminent Scholar in the Humanities, has received a Distinguished Christian Service Award from Pepperdine University.
Harrell, a noted religious historian, was an invited speaker to the 58th annual Pepperdine University Bible Lectures. He spoke on his most recent book, The Churches of Christ in the 20th Century.
Founded as a Church of Christ 1937, Pepperdine continues to maintain a relationship with the church.
The Pepperdine award cited Harrell as a "devoted Servant of Jesus Christ, Faithful Student of the Word of God, Respected Historian of the Churches of Christ and of American Religion, Encourager of Young Scholars, Beloved Mentor of Young Church Historians, and One who has given his life to the Cause for which Christ died."
