UTEK CHIEF TO SPEAK AT AUBURN ON TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER
AUBURN -- Dr. Uwe Reischl, president of the Florida-based UTEK Corporation, will speak Thursday at Auburn University on the topic of technology transfer.
His presentation will be at 1 p.m., at the Ralph Brown Draughon Library Auditorium.
UTEK is a business development company that finds, acquires, develops and finances university technology for its customers.
U.S. universities spend about $24 billion per year on research, which leads to about 10,000 new technologies each year. But more than 70 percent of the new technologies go unlicensed, says Reischl.
UTEK has developed and implemented a new model for transferring intellectual property that empowers public technology companies to rapidly grow their intellectual capital.
Reischl received a masters degree in architecture and a Ph.D. in environmental health sciences from the University of California at Berkeley. He also received a second Ph.D. in occupational medicine and an M.D. in general medicine from Germany's University of Ulm.
Reischl had 15 years experience in university teaching and research prior to joining UTEK.
