AU PRESIDENT HONORED BY ALL AMERICAN FOOTBALL FOUNDATION

AUBURN -- Auburn University president William V. Muse has been selected by the All American Football Foundation to receive its Outstanding College President's Award for 2000.

The award will be presented to Muse on Monday, Feb. 28, at the group's Banquet of Champions XXIII in Biloxi, Miss. There will be a reception at 6 p.m., and awards dinner at 6:45 p.m.

Among several other awards to be presented by the Jackson, Miss.-based group will be the Johnny Vaught Lifetime Achievement Award for Head Coaches. That will be presented to former UCLA Coach Dick Vermeil, who this year guided the NFL's St. Louis Rams to the Super Bowl championship.

A native of Marks, Miss., Muse has been president of Auburn since 1992.

Muse got a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northwestern (La.) State University in 1960 and an M.B.A. from the University of Arkansas in 1961. He received the Ph.D. in business administration from Arkansas in 1966.

Muse served eight years as president of the University of Akron before coming to Auburn.
