AU'S BLOCK HONORED BY AMERICAN WATER RESOURCES ASSOCIATION
AUBURN -- Dennis Block, assistant director of the Auburn University Environmental Institute and the Alabama Water Resources Research Institute, has been named a "Fellow" in the American Water Resources Association.
Fellows in the AWRA are elected in recognition of association activities and an outstanding record in a branch of water resources science or technology.
Block received his B.S. in 1976 in biology and chemistry from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa. In his 15 years at AU, he has focused on the areas of research and development, program management, and environmental education.
Block, who has been a member of the AWRA since 1988, has served on several committees, and has chaired the Education Committee and the Richard A. Herbert Memorial Scholarship Fund Committee. He recently completed his second term on the AWRA national board of directors.
On the local level, Block is a founding member of the Alabama State Section of AWRA, has served on the board of directors and helped establish student chapters of the AWRA throughout the Southeast.
