FSU ARTISTS WORK ON EXHIBIT AT AU; TO GIVE TALK JAN. 27

AUBURN --Two Florida State University art faculty are displaying an exhibition of their work on the Auburn University campus through Jan. 27

The exhibition, titled "Bright Days/Dark Nights," is on display at the Biggin Gallery during normal business hours. It features the work of Ray Burggraf and mark Messersmith, both faculty in FSU's Department of Art.

Messersmith and Burggraf will give a Gallery Talk on Jan. 27 at noon in Biggin Gallery.

Messersmith, who teaches beginning and advanced painting at FSU, creates large-scale oil paintings that combine images of local animals, trompe l'oeile effects, still life and landscape -- all of which deals with the environment of north Florida.

Burggraf, a professor of art who teaches painting, creates paintings made of shaped wood panels that combine modulated colors and contrasting soft and hard edges.

The exhibition and discussion are both sponsored by AU's Department of Art.
