Clifton (cliftsh@mail.auburn.edu) AU OUTREACH'S SIXTH 'PARTNERSHIP' PUBLIC FORUM IN ENTERPRISE AUBURN -- The sixth in the series of seven "Partnership with the People" public forums sponsored by Auburn University will be at Enterprise State Junior College on Thursday, Aug. 24 at 7 p.m. The forum will be at 7 p.m. at Enterprise State Junior College. The "Partnership with the People" summer initiative is an ambitious effort to learn directly from Alabamians which existing outreach programs are most effective and what issues can be addressed by Auburn. The feedback will be used to structure future outreach programs. Public forums have already been staged in Bay Minette, Demopolis, Tuscaloosa, Athens and Anniston. The Enterprise forum is targeted for residents of Crenshaw, Pike, Barbour, Covington, Coffee, Dale, Henry, Geneva and Houston counties. The last forum will be at AU Montgomery on Aug. 31. AU Provost Paul Parks and David Wilson, AU vice president for outreach and associate provost, will host the Enterprise forum, which will also be attended by deans from AU's 12 colleges and schools and other university representatives. "Our experiences in the forums to date have been most gratifying," says Wilson. "Citizens of Alabama are enthusiastically greeting this opportunity to make their views known to the university, and this information will be of great value to us as we plan for the next century." A large turnout is expected for the forum in Enterprise, says Wilson. After participants register, a plenary meeting will be held in which participants can learn about Auburn's overall outreach mission. Then small discussion or "break-out" groups meet to vocalize issues and concerns. A facilitator keeps a list of the issues raised in each meeting, and the listings are posted for viewing and summary during refreshments provided for participants. # # # aug95:AU-Enterprise CONTACT: 334/844-5700.
