Clifton AU'S FOURTH 'PARTNERSHIP' PUBLIC FORUM SET FOR ANNISTON AUG. 10 AUBURN -- Auburn University Outreach's fourth public forum in its summer "Partnership with the People" program is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 10 in Anniston. The forum will be held at the Anniston High School at 7 p.m. The series of seven public forums are aimed at gathering feedback from Alabamians about regional needs and how AU Outreach can be more effective. The first three forums were June 14 in Demopolis, July 18 in Tuscaloosa and Aug. 3 in Athens. AU Provost Paul Parks and David Wilson, AU vice president for outreach and associate provost, will host the Anniston forum, which will also be attended by deans from AU's 12 schools and colleges. "Our experiences in the forums to date have been most gratifying," says Wilson. "Citizens of Alabama are enthusiastically greeting this opportunity to make their views known to the university, and this information will be of great value to us as we plan for the next century." The "Partnership with People" public forums, which kicked off in Demopolis , were initiated to learn directly from Alabamians which existing programs are most effective and what issues can be addressed by Auburn's outreach resources. The feedback will be used to structure future outreach programs. After participants register, a plenary meeting will be held in which participants can learn about Auburn's overall outreach mission. Then small discussion or "break out" groups meet in other locations throughout the school to vocalize issues and concerns. A facilitator keeps a list of the issues raised in each meeting, and the listings are posted after the "break out" sessions. The Anniston forum will seek input from residents of DeKalb, Etowah, Cherokee, St. Clair, Calhoun, Cleburne, Talladega, Clay and Randolph counties. But anyone may attend any of all of the forums. Regions, dates and locations for the remaining forums are: Southwest, Aug. 15, Bay Minette, Faulkner State Junior College; Southeast, Enterprise, Aug. 24, Enterprise State Junior College; and East, Montgomery, Aug. 31, AU at Montgomery. # # # aug95:AU-Anniston CONTACT: Office of the Vice President for University Outreach, 334/844/5700.
