PROJECT AUBURN -- Executives of Bharat Earth Movers Ltd., a heavy earth-moving equipment manufacturing company, are working with Auburn University experts to reduce noise in the vehicle cabs and improve production technology. AU entered into an agreement with India-based BEML in November to conduct two projects funded by the United Nations Development Program. Since March, BEML personnel have been working with AU's Department of Mechanical Engineering under the direction of Professor P.K. Raju on the noise control project. A second program -- from September to December -- will be conducted through AU's Thomas Walter Center for Technology Management under administrators Eminent Scholar Dayne Aldridge and Associate Professor Paul Swamidass and Raju.
