Clifton AU'S SBDC OFFERS OPPORTUNITIES FOR SMALL CONSTRUCTION FIRMS AUBURN -- Small construction companies interested in bidding on Auburn University contracts, networking with prime construction firms or increasing sub-contracting opportunities may benefit from June 12 seminar sponsored by AU's Small Business Development Center. The Construction Opportunities at Auburn University for Small Business Owners' seminar is geared toward companies with less than $7 million in annual receipts. The companies should be able to provide products or services such as building; remodeling; painting; plumbing; electrical; welding; carpet; landscaping; brick; building supplies; hardware; or other related construction work. "The seminar is designed to provide small business owners with sub-contracting information and opportunities at Auburn University and other construction projects in Alabama," said Anntonia Owens, management scientist at AU's SBDC and coordinator of the seminar. Gregory Parson, university architect, and William Jay, director of construction for AU's Facilities Division, will conduct the seminar along with participation by Joyce Patterson of McGraw Hill Dodge (Dodge Reports) of Montgomery. Topics to be covered include advertisement of bids; types of supplies needed for small projects; locating prime contractors; sub-contracting opportunities; and other procedures and requirements for construction projects at AU. The two-hour seminar will begin at 10 a.m. in room D of the AU Hotel and Conference Center. The cost is $10 per person, and pre-registration is required for print materials.
