Smith, Alumni-Writer-In-Residence at Auburn University, has been named editor of Shenandoah: The Washington and Lee University Review effective July 1. Smith, also an associate professor of English at AU, earned his M.A. from Appalachian State University, where he was founding editor of Cold Mountain Review. He is also the former poetry editor of National Forum, and has been editor for the past 12 years of Southern Humanities Review. A former National Education Association Fellow in Literature, Smith is the author of The Cardinal Heart and two volumes of poems, Trespasser and Kilcoolie Fern. A collection of his stories, Faith, will be published in 1995 by Black Belt Press. Shenandoah has published fiction, essays and interviews on a quarterly basis since 1950. # # # may95:AU-shenandoah
