Mansfield will lead the 400-member organization in furthering veterinary education among practitioners. ÒThe ABVP was established to certify veterinarians who demonstrate expertise in the broad range of clinical subjects relevant to practice,Ó he said. ÒIt has some resemblance to the American Board of Family Physicians in human medicine.Ó The Nashville, Tenn.-based ABVP certifies species-oriented specialists in eight practice categories -- avian, beef cattle, canine and feline, dairy, equine, feline, food animal and swine practice.
