-------------------- N E W S R E L E A S E -------------------- Auburn University - University Relations (334) 844-9999 ---------------------------------------------------------------- 5/8/95 Mitch Emmons AU PROFESSOR GETS HONORARY DOCTORATE FROM RUSSIAN UNIVERSITY AUBURN -- Malcolm Crocker, Distinguished University Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Auburn University, has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree from Baltic State Technical University in St. Petersburg, Russia. The presentation was made as part of the university's Cosmonautics Day celebration on April 12. Crocker, whose research interests are in noise and vibration control, has maintained active contacts with Russian scientists since the 1980s. "My enthusiasm about working with the Russians is not only because of their very high scientific achievements, but also because I believe that technical and scientific cooperation can help further goals of peace and understanding between peoples," Crocker said.
