In addition, Robert Nelson, assistant professor of Agricultural Economics and Rural Sociology at AU, was named Outstanding Advisor of a Developing Chapter. Both of the honors were awarded at the organizationŐs national convention in St. Louis NAMA is a professional organization whose primary objective is "to foster and promote the highest standards of professional excellence in agri-marketing, part of which is devoted to encouraging marketing careers in agribusiness," says Nelson. The 27 professional chapters across the United States sponsor 33 student chapters at the major land grant universities and other campuses. The 42-member Auburn Student NAMA Chapter, composed mostly of students from the College of Agriculture, was organized during the 1992-93 school year. It solicits student members from all disciplines with an interest in career planning, professional development and marketing skills, says Nelson.
