He can discuss evolution of Alabama's political culture; is knowledgeable on 20th century Alabama and Southern history; served on A+, The Coalition for Better Education advisory committee; and appointed by Montgomery Circuit Judge Gene Reese as a court facilitator in the equity funding lawsuit. ¥ GERALD JOHNSON (844-4237) Associate professor of political science and associate vice president for research. He has studied Alabama politics for more than 20 years; was an administrative adviser to Gov. Fob James during his first term. ¥ RICHARD KUNKEL (844-4446) Dean, College of Education. He is an outspoken advocate of school choice and education reform; chair of A+, The Coalition for Better Education research/foundations/policy committee; and is active in the James administration, involved with the National Governor's Association representing the governor. ¥ DAVID MARTIN (844-5370) Professor of political science. He has conducted research on voting trends of black Alabamians using 1990 Census figures; can discuss legislative redistricting. ¥ BUDDY MITCHELL (242-2688) Executive director of governmental relations at AU. He can comment on specific issues concerning AU and higher education. ¥ ROBERT MONTJOY (844-4704) Director of AU's Economic Development Institute and associate professor of public administration at AU; has studied operations of state agencies in Alabama and other states; chief writer of the state handbook for election officials; and served as the 1988 elections consultant. ¥ KEITH WARD (844-4781) Director of AU's Center for Governmental Services.
