-------------------- N E W S R E L E A S E -------------------- Auburn University - University Relations (334) 844-9999 ---------------------------------------------------------------- 4/7/95 Janet McCoy WHITE TO GIVE SHERMAN LECTURE AT AUBURN ON APRIL 11 AUBURN -- Jesse White Jr., federal co-chair of the Appalachian Regional Commission, will give the 1995 Sherman Lecture in Public Administration at Auburn University on Tuesday, April 11. White will speak on "The New Model of Economic Development" at 4 p.m. at Pebble Hill. He also will speak to political science classes on April 12. Prior to his ARC appointment, White was a lecturer, consultant and writer in the fields of economic development, public policy and strategic planning. In 1992, he was secretary and managing consultant to the Commission on the Future of the South. From 1982 to 1990, White was executive director of the Southern Growth Policies Board, a economic development "think tank" for 14 Southern state governors.
