-------------------- N E W S R E L E A S E -------------------- Auburn University - University Relations (334) 844-9999 ---------------------------------------------------------------- 4/7/95 Janet McCoy AUSTRALIAN NUTRITIONIST TO PRESENT YORK LECTURE AT AUBURN AUBURN -- Andrew Sinclair, research professor at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia, will present the spring York Lecture on Monday, April 17, at Auburn University. Sinclair will speak on the topic of "Twentieth Century Diets -- Food for Thought" at 7:30 p.m. in the AU Hotel and Conference Center's auditorium. Sinclair, an internationally known researcher in the field of lipid metabolism, has examined a wide range of nutritional issues, from fats in the food supply to basic lipid biochemistry. His lecture will focus on diets of the future. In addition to the formal lecture, Sinclair will present several technical seminars at Auburn. The York Lecture series was established in 1981 from an endowment by Dr. and Mrs. E.T. York, both native Alabamians and Auburn graduates. York served from 1959 until 1962 as head of the Alabama Cooperative Extension Service, leaving to head the Federal Extension Service in Washington, D.C. He later became provost and vice-president for agriculture at the University of Florida.
