<p><b>AU OUTREACH SPONSORS BASS FISHING TECHNIQUES '99
INSTITUTE</b>
<p>AUBURN -- For the fifth year, Auburn University's Outreach Program Office is
offering the popular B.A.S.S. Fishing Techniques '99, which is sanctioned by the
Bass Anglers Sportsman Society.
<p>The institute, which will be at the Sheraton Civic Center Hotel in Birmingham
on Jan. 23-24, 1999, will feature professional instructors such as Kevin VanDam,
Davy Hite and Jack Hains
<p>"Without exception, the B.A.S.S. Fishing Techniques Institute has received rave
reviews from participants during the past four years that Auburn University has
been associated with the program," says Lydia Walls, program developer. "Moving
to Birmingham last year has given us a more central location that everyone seems
to like."
<p>The event, presented by AU and the Bass Anglers Sportsman Society, will be the
only B.A.S.S. Fishing Techniques Institute offered in Alabama during 1999.
<p>The institute offers anglers the opportunity to experience a classroom
environment where America's top professional bass fishermen are the instructors.
<p>Each pro has an area of expertise that he uses and depends on to land bass. The
institute serves as a format for the pros to pass along their knowledge, creating an
opportunity for participants to learn from those who specialize in certain
techniques.
<p>Saturday's activities begin at 7 a.m., with on-site registration, which is limited to
the first 300 participants. After an orientation session at 8 a.m., participants will
attend six different workshops with instructors Davy Hite, Don Iovino and Danny
Joe Humphrey. Activities conclude at 3 p.m., but participants may stay for informal
"Think Tank" sessions with individual instructors until 3:30 p.m.
<p>Sunday's activities also begin at 8 a.m., as instructors Kevin VanDam, Rich
Tauber and Jack Hains conduct six additional workshops followed by Sundayıs
"Think Tank."
