AU MPA DIRECTOR TAKES ONE-YEAR APPOINTMENT AT WISCONSIN-MILWAUKEE

AUBURN -- Keenan Grenell, associate professor of political science and director of Auburn University's Master of Public Administration program, has accepted a one-year visiting professorship at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Grenell's appointment, which will begin Jan, 1, 2002, will be divided among two colleges -- the College of Letters and Science and the College of Business Administration -- as well as with the Office of University Outreach at UWM.

"We are delighted to have someone of Keenan's stature at our university next year and we look forward to having him teach our students," said G. Richard Meadows, interim dean of the College of Letters and Science at UWM.

"The business school is especially keen on having Keenan teach because they have a variety of programs which address entrepreneurship in the central city," Meadows said. "The MPA program also addresses not-for-profit management opportunities and we know Keenan can help us with that."

During a summer research appointment, Grenell will develop concepts for ways to improve and increase market place participation among the Milwaukee inner city minority community.

Grenell, who has taught at AU since 1993, is founder of AU's African-American Entrepreneurship Summit, a highly successful eight-year-old program created to help African-American business owners strengthen their businesses for global competition. The 2002 AAES will be held Feb. 12-15 on the AU campus.
