<p><b>AU'S ARCHITECTURE TO HOLD ANNUAL PUMPKIN CARVE OCT.
27</b>
<p>	AUBURN -- The children of Lee County will be in for a special treat Friday,
Oct. 27, when more than 250 expertly carved jack-o-lanterns will be displayed at the
7th annual pumpkin carve at Auburn University's College of Architecture, Design
and Construction.
<p>The event, which allows architecture students to use the techniques they
have learned in class combined with their own creativity, will begin at 6 p.m. in
Dudley Courtyard and is free and open to the public.
<p>The pumpkin carve reminds students that "much of architecture is in the
pleasure of creating," says Tarik Orgen, a professor of architecture and advisor of the
American Institute of Architectural Students, which is sponsoring the event.
<p>"Every time you design you are learning something, but foremost this
project is a way for us to include the townspeople into our academic environment."
<p>Joe Alcock, a senior architecture major who is president of AIAS, says
while it is a chance for all architecture students to join together on a common
project, "we really feel like this is a community event.
<p>"It's a fun activity and the students really come up with some creative
designs for the pumpkins," says the West Palm Beach, Fla. native.
