AU OUTREACH PROGRAM OFFICE OFFERS TAX PRACTITIONERS SEMINAR
AUBURN -- Auburn University's Outreach Program Office will host its annual series of two-day tax seminars in November and December for tax lawyers, public accountants and other tax practitioners.
Auburn has offered these seminars, which have the largest average enrollment per session among Southeastern states, for more than 25 years. The seminars will feature a variety of speakers informing tax practitioners on changes, developments and interpretations of federal and state laws. The program offers CEU, CLE and CPE credits.
"With significant changes in this year's tax code, the AU Tax Practitioners Seminar provides an excellent opportunity to learn about those changes from expert instructors representing both the Internal Revenue Service and the Alabama Department of Revenue," said Scott Greenwood, program developer in the OPO.
More than 97 percent of last year's participants said that the seminar met their expectations and enabled them to better handle tax problems.
"I appreciate this seminar," said Anna Jones of Rainsville, Ala. "It prepares me to do a better job for my clients during tax season."
Judy Montgomery of Mobile was also one of last year's participants. "It's the best, most informative seminar yet. You can tell from the audience that the material was relevant," she said.
This year's topics include: "What's New in Federal Income Tax Law; IRS Reorganization; Recent Rulings and Cases; How to Use IRS Website; C Corporations and Sub-S Corporations; Estate Taxes and Trusts; Retirement Issues and IRAs; Discharge of Indebtedness; Agricultural Issues; What's New in Alabama; and Limited Liability."
The AU Tax Practitioners Seminar ranks as the most affordable in the country, according to the 2000 Farm Income Tax School Survey by the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign.
"I would like to thank you for providing quality CPE (credits) at an inexpensive price," said Yvette Otwell of Mulga, Ala.
The cost of the seminar is $85 for both days. For advanced registration, contact AU's Outreach Program Office 334/844-5100. On-site registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on the first day of the seminar. The non refundable fee includes admittance into all seminar sessions, morning coffee breaks and the University of Illinois Tax Workbook. Each participant is responsible for meals and lodging.
