ANNUAL DESIGN CONFERENCE SET BY AU INDUSTRIAL DESIGN FOR OCT. 19
AUBURN -- More than 100 professional and student industrial designers are expected to attend a one-day symposium Oct. 19 on the Auburn University campus.
The 23nd annual Design Interaction conference will be at Parker Auditorium in Dudley Hall, the home of AU's College of Architecture, Design and Construction.
The program begins at 9 a.m. and concludes with a 2:30 p.m. reception in the department's offices in Wallace Hall.
The speakers include: Brian Roderman, business development manager for IGNITION, Inc., a product development firm in Dallas, who will talk on "The Idea Economy"; Stephen Zwonitizer, senior designer and project manager with the product development firm of Sunberg-Ferar, Inc., of Atlanta, who will discuss "Competing on Something Better Than Price"; and award-winning furniture designer Kevin Stark, vice president of design at Hickory Design Furniture, who will speak on "The Little Design Company That Could."
"The students get a chance to really talk to our alumni speakers as well as other alumni who come back for the program," said Clark Lundell, professor and head of AU's Department of Industrial Design.
"The Design Interaction program has been very successful over the years because our industrial design students are able to meet one-on-one on their turf with industry professionals. Professionals get the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience with our students. "
