FREE CHORAL ELDERHOSTEL PERFORMANCE THIS WEEK ON AU CAMPUS

AUBURN - Elderhostel participants from around the country have been practicing and preparing for a free performance Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. at Goodwin Music Hall on the Auburn University campus.

The elderhostelers will perform under the direction of Thomas Smith, professor and head of AU's Department of Music.

"There is no fee for the recital," said Bonnie Stauffer, elderhostel director and associate director of the Outreach Program Office. "There are five folks who are repeaters from last year," she added.

One of those returning is Larry Erickson of Nashville, Tenn. "Six years ago when we observed Tom Smith with his students, I wanted a Choral Workshop with him," said Erickson. "Last year's experience reinforces that feeling."

Tom Kelsey of Fairburn, Ohio, another returning performer, agreed that last year's choral elderhostel was memorable. "It was a great music program," said Kelsey.
