AU STUDENTS PLAN ART AUCTION TO BENEFIT VICTIMS' FAMILIES
AUBURN -- Auburn University students have planned a silent auction for later this week to benefit the victims' families of the terrorists' bombings.
The art auction will be Friday, Oct. 5, at the Jan Dempsey Art Center in Auburn with proceeds going to the American Red Cross.
The event, a silent auction set for 7 p.m.-9:30 p.m., is being coordinated by AU students Dillon Parrish and April Roth.
Several AU art faculty, as well as local artists and businesses, are donating artwork and photography to be auctioned. In addition, several local restaurants will be donating food for the event, and members of the AU Marching Band will perform.
"One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to the American Red Cross," said Roth, a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Communication and Journalism.
"This is truly a grassroots effort in which we hope that the community, students and alumni can unite for the well being of our nation."
