ARTIST, MAGAZINE EDITOR MICHAEL PITTARI TO SPEAK AT AU
AUBURN -- Michael Pittari, an artist-trained editor of one of the Southeast's leading art periodicals, will speak to Auburn University art students on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
Pittari, editor of Art Papers Magazine, will lecture on "Everything at Once: Time and Trends in Contemporary Art" at 4 p.m. in 92 Biggin Hall.
Pittari has been editor of the magazine, which covers trends in contemporary art and culture, since 1997. Prior to that, he worked for Arts magazine and as an editorial assistant for Drawing, a publication of the drawing society.
Trained as an artist, Pittari's work most recently exhibited in the show "The Avant Garde Revisited" at the Nexus Contemporary Art Center in Atlanta. He teaches painting and drawing at the Atlanta College of Art and Georgia State University.
Most recently, he was a visiting critic at the Forum for Contemporary Art in St. Louis and at the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art in Kansas City, Mo.
