AUTHOR KINCAID TO SPEAK ON LATEST BOOK AT AU'S PEBBLE HILL
AUBURN -- Author Nanci Kincaid will read from her latest book, Verbena, on Thursday, Aug. 22, at Auburn University's Center for the Arts and Humanities.
Kincaid, who will speak at 4 p.m. at Pebble Hill, is the author of two other books, Balls and Crossing Blood, and a collection of short stories, Pretending the Bed is a Raft.
In her newest novel, readers are taken inside the life and home of a loving wife and a mother of five whose world is turned upside down and yet who manages to right it all again.
Forming strong, appealing female characters that face life's challenges head-on has earned Kincaid critical acclaim for her work.
She earned a bachelor's degree in English from Athens State College and a master's degree in fiction from the University of Alabama. She has been honored with several awards and fellowships, including the Emerging Artists Award from the Alabama Fine Arts Society, a Bunting Fellowship from Radcliffe College and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
