<P><B>TWO NEW FACULTY CHAIRS APPOINTED IN AU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS</b>
<P>AUBURN -- Two Auburn University College of Business faculty members -- Stanley Harris and Steve Swidler -- have been named to newly endowed professorships.  
	<P>The appointments were announced by Interim Dean John Jahera Jr.
	<P>Harris, a professor in the Department of Management, was named the Celita Everett Professor, which was established by Brad Everett in honor of his wife.  Everett is a 1981 alumnus of AU.
	<P>The endowment provides the funding to support superior faculty who have demonstrated clear evidence of outreach and involvement in the business community, a strong commitment to students, and a positive role model for students.
	<P>Harris earned his Ph.D. in organizational psychology from the University of Michigan and joined the AU College of Business faculty in 1986. He is director of graduate programs in Organizational Analysis & Change and Human Resource Management and was recently appointed as director of the Physician's Executive MBA Program.  
	<P>Swidler, a professor in the Department of Finance, was appointed to the J. Stanley Mackin Distinguished Professorship.  The award was established by Regions Financial Corporation, in honor of retired CEO J. Stanley Mackin.  The chair was established to enhance the leadership of the college, recruit outstanding faculty, and support the college's strategic plan.
	<P>Prior to joining the faculty at Auburn in August 2001, Swidler taught at the University of Texas at Arlington, Southern Methodist University, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and Rice University.  He has also had summer appointments at Victoria University in New Zealand and the Oslo School of Business.    
	<P>Swidler obtained his undergraduate degree from Oberlin College and received his Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.  His teaching and research interests include investments, security analysis, financial institutions, and financial engineering, and he has published in a number of professional journals including the <I>Journal of Finance</i>, the <I>Journal of Money, Credit and Banking</i> and the <I>Journal of Financial Research</i>.
