AU HOSTING ALABAMA ASSOCIATION OF INTERNATIONAL EDUCATORS

AUBURN -- Officials from the U.S Immigration and Naturalization Service and the FBI will be among the speakers on Thursday and Friday (May 2-3) at the 2002 Conference of the Alabama Association of International Educators hosted by Auburn University.

The meeting, which begins at noon Thursday at the AU Hotel and Dixon Conference Center, is being hosted by the AU Office of International Education and Office of International Student Life.

Much of the two-day program will center around the issue of international students in the United States in the wake of the Sept. 11 terrorist acts.

Guest speakers include Tamara Mathews of the INS in Atlanta; Bill Jordan of the INS in Mobile; Brig. Gen. Mike Sumrall of Montgomery, Alabama's adjutant general; Gregg Miller, manager of the Alabama Emergency Agency's Terrorism Program; Dr. Donald Williamson, director of the state Department of Public Health; Lt. Col. Charles Andrews, assistant director of the state Department of Public Safety; and Sharon Ormsby, supervisory senior agent for the FBI.
