JAY SANDERS FILM FESTIVAL TO BE HELD AT AUBURN APRIL 18

AUBURN -- The Jay Sanders Film Festival, which is scheduled for April 18 on the Auburn University campus, will provide young high school and college filmmakers from across the nation, the opportunity to have their work judged and viewed by an audience.

The festival, which is free and open to the public, will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. in the theater auditorium of the Auburn University Hotel and Dixon Conference Center.

The Auburn Film Society and AU's Department of Communication and Journalism will sponsor the event.

Fourteen films will be shown -- six from high school filmmakers and the rest from college students, said J. Emmett Winn, a professor of communication and the festivalšs director.

The festival showcases the finalists of the Movie Gallery Student Video Competition. This year's competition received more than 190 entries from high school and college students from 31 different states.

Guest judges will pick the best videos during the festival and the winners are awarded cash prizes, provided by an endowment to the university by Movie Gallery.
