FIVE PROFESSORS NAMED ALUMNI PROFESSORS AT AUBURN

AUBURN -- Five additional Auburn University professors have been awarded Alumni Professorships by the Auburn Alumni Association, says John Pritchett, interim provost and vice president for academic affairs.

The five are: Rex Dunham, Department of Fisheries & Allied Aquacultures; Kelly Dean Jolley, Department of Philosophy; Jeff Sibley, Department of Horticulture; Hareesh Tippur, Department of Mechanical Engineering; and Liu (John) Zhanjiang, Department of Fisheries & Allied Aquacultures.

The Alumni Professors receive a nonrenewable $3,500 yearly salary supplement for five years, and are selected on the basis of outstanding teaching and research.

The new awards will be effective with the start of the 2002-2003 academic year.

"The Auburn Alumni Association funds the Alumni Professor program because of its desire to support distinguished faculty," said Pritchett. "The program is designed to reward faculty members who have been recognized by their peers and colleagues as making outstanding and exceptional contributions to the university's academic programs."
