AU BAND TO MARCH IN MOBILE MARDI GRAS PARADE
AUBURN -- The Auburn University Marching Band will appear in the Mardi Gras Day parade in Mobile on Tuesday (March 4), leading the Knights of Revelry, one of the cities' oldest day-time parading societies.
More than 150 members of Auburn's 330-member band will march in the 11-float parade that begins at 12:30 p.m.
The 2003 parade, which will feature more than 300 riders and marshals, will marks the 129th parade for the Knights of Revelry.
"We are looking forward to returning to Mobile and participating in the Mardi Gras activities," says Rick Good, associate band director. "It will be a rewarding day for the students, and Auburn University alike, as we share the spirit of Auburn with the citizens of Mobile."
Mardi Gras originated in the city of Mobile in 1703.
