WINGFIELD TO BE VISITING EXECUTIVE IN AU COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

AUBURN -- Charlotte Wingfield, a partner with KPMG LLP in Los Angeles, will be the Lowder Visiting Executive in the Auburn College of Business on Monday and Tuesday (Feb. 18-19).

The Opelika native is part of an Auburn family that extends three generations. Wingfield's father, Tom, and her daughter, Ashley, are both Auburn graduates. Wingfield is a 1971 graduate of the College of Education.

In 1989, she graduated from Pacific Coast Banking School and has spent most of her career in the financial services industry. Prior to joining KPMG, she was a senior vice president for a California retail bank where she managed retail branch operations, deposit product and fee income services, centralized operations departments and customer service and branch automation and systems.

Wingfield also directed operations and client services for the largest ATM network on the West Coast, providing services to 350 banks. She was one of the original four bankers who initiated the ATM network sharing organization, STAR System, now the largest U.S.-shared network.

At KPMG, Wingfield leads the business advisory consulting practice that provides services primarily to banks and other financial services companies in the Western U.S. She also assists high tech companies and retailers with cash management and corporate treasury business issues.

As a consulting practice leader, Wingfield is responsible for every aspect of the business: new business development, staff recruiting and professional development, client services, consulting methods development, knowledge management and delivery risk management.

During her visit to Auburn, Wingfield will speak to several accounting classes and participate in a roundtable discussion with accounting students and faculty. On Tuesday, business faculty, staff and students will host a reception in her honor at 9 a.m.

The Robert and Charlotte Lowder Visiting Executive-in-Residence program provides students and faculty with an opportunity to interact with prominent executives for an open exchange of views on current issues and to gain insight into the business world.

The program is made possible through an endowment by Robert and Charlotte Lowder of Montgomery. Lowder, a 1964 graduate of the AU College of Business and a member of the AU Board of Trustees, is CEO of Colonial BancGroup.
