NOTED POET WILL GIVE READING AT AU'S PEBBLE HILL

AUBURN -- Hank Lazer, a poet who is also vice president for Undergraduate Programs and Services at the University of Alabama, will give a reading on Jan. 23 at the Auburn University Center for the Arts & Humanities.

Lazer's presentation at Pebble Hill -- free and open to the public -- will begin at 4 p.m.

Lazer is the author of more than a half dozen books of poetry, including INTER(IR)RUPTIONS, published in 1992, and Days, which was published in 2002.

As a poet and performance artist, Lazer has given readings and lectures at Stanford University, the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and Temple University. In addition to his work as a poet, Lazer is a respected critic of modern and contemporary poetry. His Opposing Poetries, essays on contemporary poetry, was published by Northwestern University Press in 1996.

Copies of Lazer's recent work will be available at the program at AU. A reception will follow the reading.
