BIOTERRORISM EXPERT TO SPEAK AU VETERINARY COLLEGE

AUBURN -- Dr. Corrie Brown of the University of Georgia will talk about the role of veterinary medicine in the fight against bioterrorism during a Feb. 5 presentation at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine.

She will speak at 4 p.m., at Overton Auditorium, and the public is invited.

Brown will be the keynote speaker at the annual research forum sponsored by AU's Epsilon Chapter of the Phi Zeta veterinary honor society.

The subject of her presentation will be, "The Role of Veterinary Research in Bioterrorism and Agroterrorism Preparedness."

Brown is a professor of pathology and the coordinator of international affairs at Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of California-Davis and her doctor of veterinary medicine degree from the Ontario Veterinary College.

Her experience includes six years as head of the pathology section in the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Foreign Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.

The Phi Zeta research forum will feature poster and platform presentations by Auburn graduate students and veterinary students. The platform presentations will be from 1 p.m.-3 p.m. in Overton Auditorium, and research posters will be displayed in the Goodwin Student Center next to the auditorium.
