What is the Tiger ID Mobile Credential?

Your Tiger ID Mobile Credential is the official form of identification for every Auburn University Student. You can add your Tiger ID to your Android device using the Tiger ID (GET Mobile) app.

What are the eligibility requirements to use Tiger ID via Google Pay Wallet?

Individuals must be an active Auburn University student. Additionally, individuals must have a profile picture on file with the Tiger ID office.

What are the device requirements?

Your Tiger ID can be used on one device. You cannot use the mobile Tiger ID on both iOS and Android devices at the same time.

Tiger ID credentials are supported on any NFC-enabled Android phone running Lollipop 5.0 or higher (most phones sold in the past five years). Mobile Tiger IDs on Android wearables are not supported at this time.

Can I use my Tiger ID without unlocking my phone?

By default, your Android Tiger ID can be used without unlocking your phone, but the phone must be powered on and “awake” (display active).

You can change this setting by turning on “require device unlock for use.“ This allows your Tiger ID to be used only when the phone is unlocked by accessing your Tiger ID in the Google Pay Wallet.

Can I use Google Pay Tiger ID if my phone has a dead battery?

Your Android phone must have battery power, be powered on and “awake” to use the Tiger ID.

How many devices can I use my Tiger ID within Google Pay? 

You can use your Tiger ID via Google Pay on one Android phone device using your Auburn University credentials.

I am not able to add my Tiger ID to Google Pay. Who can help me?

What happens if I lose my Android device? If I find it afterwards?

During Tiger ID office hours, contact us to deactivate the card in the Wallet for that device.

What happens if I get a new phone?

You should unlink your Tiger ID from within the Tiger ID (GET Mobile) app by following the instructions found at https://auburn.edu/administration/tigercard/new_device/.

The mobile credential is only allowed on one device at a time per student and must be always in the possession of that student.
***Please know that sharing of your mobile credential is a violation of University policy and violations of this policy will be subject to view by the Office of Student Conduct.***

Can I use my Tiger ID in Google Pay without a cellular signal?

Tiger IDs in Google Pay can be used even if your phone does not have network connectivity, as the Tiger ID is stored on your device.

Does having my Tiger ID in Google Pay cost anything?

No. The service is provided at no additional cost.

Is a Tiger ID photo required? 

Yes, a photo is required for eligibility.

What is required to authenticate to the GET Mobile app? 

You will be required to log in with your Auburn University credentials and DUO, your two-factor authorization, to add the Tiger ID to your digital wallet.

Android users will be required to enter a pin number after downloading the GET app.

What if I have a passcode on my phone, will I have to enter it every time? 

If you have not enabled the “require device unlock for use” setting, you do not need to authenticate via passcode, fingerprint, etc.

If you have enabled the “require device unlock for use” setting, you will be required to authenticate via passcode, fingerprint, etc. each time you access your Tiger Card using Google Pay.

Note: The “require device unlock for use” setting is turned off by default.

How do I use my Tiger Club or Dining Dollars currency on my account from my phone?

Once you have set up your Tiger ID in Google Pay, you can tap your device on the payment terminal to process your transaction.

Will it work with off-campus merchants?(if applicable)

Yes, you can use your Android device at off-campus merchants that support Tiger ID purchases.

Who can assist if my Tiger ID does not work for building/residence hall access?

If the reader does acknowledge the tap from your device but denies you access, you will need to contact the department responsible for granting access to that area. If the reader does not acknowledge the tap at all, please visit the Tiger ID office in Melton Student Center Suite 1301 during normal business hours. The Tiger ID office is open Monday-Friday from 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
