Auburn University, under the leadership of its new President, Jay Gogue, invites applications and nominations for the position of Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

Auburn University is a comprehensive land-grant institution and is ranked as one of the top 50 public universities in U.S. News & World Report. Auburn University's enrollment exceeds 24,000 students from 50 states and over 100 countries, who are taught by more than 1,200 faculty members. Auburn University consists of 13 colleges and schools and has an operating budget of $839 million.

As the chief academic officer of the university, the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs reports directly to the President, and as the second-ranking officer, will act for the President on behalf of the university when the President is not available. This individual will be responsible for all academic matters including budget and space.

Reporting to the position are the 13 Deans of the colleges/schools and the Dean of Libraries; the Associate Provost and Vice President for Research; the Associate Provost and Vice President for Outreach; the Associate Provost for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs; the Associate Provost for Undergraduate Studies; the Executive Director for Information Technology; the Director of Institutional Research and Assessment; and the Director of the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Arts.

Auburn University seeks a visionary and distinguished scholar-teacher with a record of responsible and successful leadership at a complex multidisciplinary institution. The successful candidate is expected to have thorough familiarity with the philosophy and responsibilities of a large land-grant institution with teaching, research and service missions.
