Classification and Compensation Project Details

Project Leadership
The Classification and Compensation Project is sponsored by Auburn University and is being managed through the department of Human Resources. The main project contact is Chuck Gerards, Director, Classification and Compensation.

Following an extensive selection process, Auburn University selected Hewitt Associates, LLC to assist with this project. Hewitt Associates is a global human resources consulting and outsourcing firm. Hewitt's mission is to "excel at helping our clients and their people succeed together."

Tom Farmer, Hewitt's project manager states, "We are excited to help Auburn University change the way performance is managed and the way positions are defined, classified, and compensated. Most importantly, we look forward to listening to employees and collaborating with the University's Deans, department heads and other leaders to ensure new approaches are simple, flexible, and equitable. We expect that the result of this project will be a more satisfying work experience at Auburn, and better tools to help managers and all employees improve performance to help fulfil Auburn's mission."

"Our Auburn University consulting team is comprised of a solid group of professionals with expertise designing, developing, and delivering systems in compensation, classification, and performance management," says Farmer. "Our team includes some former college professors and even some Auburn graduates. We have been impressed by the commitment of the University's leaders to make this a successful process. We are optimistic that the way performance, classification, and compensation are managed will improve significantly."
