Fall Application – Returning Applicants

Fall Application - Returning Residents

Returning Resident Standby

Standby Update: If you were unable to secure a room during renewals and have a completed housing application on file, you will be on standby for a returning resident space for the 2024-25 academic year. If you would like to cancel your active application, you may do so by submitting the Housing Application Cancellation Form within the student portal. To read more about the new tiered cancellation schedule, please visit our website.

Due to the large number of returning resident applications currently on standby, we are no longer accepting additional housing applications for returning students for Academic Year 2024-2025.

Housing Renewal Process

Auburn University Housing (AUH) will send all current residents an email(s) to their Auburn email account with instructions related to the housing renewal process. During the fall semester, on a first-come, first-served basis, students currently living on campus may renew their housing agreement for the upcoming academic year. Please see the chart below for important dates and deadlines.

Students who are members of a Panhellenic sorority and want to live in Magnolia, Oak or Leischuck Halls for the upcoming academic year and student-athletes do not need to complete a renewal application at this time. Sorority members and student-athletes have a separate application and room selection process.

Due to limited on-campus housing, AUH cannot guarantee a space to every student who submits a renewal application. AUH also cannot guarantee preferred community placement or specific roommates. See section below to read about our renewal cancellation deadlines and standby list.

Returning Student Renewal Cancellation Deadlines & Standby Information

In an effort to assist returning students on standby, University Housing has developed a tiered cancellation schedule to ensure students holding a returning bed space are going to live on campus for the upcoming 2024-25 academic year.

Cancellation Date Student Information

Tier 1

December 1, 2023*

Returning students that selected a bed space during renewal week must cancel by December 1, to avoid responsibility for their housing agreement and rental payment.

Students on standby will be assigned to spaces resulting from December 1 cancellations. Placement will be based on students’ housing application submission date.

Tier 2

February 1, 2024*

Returning students assigned a bed space after December 1, must cancel by the February 1 deadline to avoid responsibility for their housing agreement and rental payment.

Students on standby will be assigned to spaces resulting from February 1 cancellations. Placement will be based on students’ housing application submission date.

Tier 3

March 1, 2024*

Returning students assigned a bed space after February 1, must cancel by the March 1 deadline to avoid responsibility for their housing agreement and rental payment.

Students on standby will be assigned to spaces resulting from March 1 cancellations. Placement will be based on students’ housing application submission date. Students assigned a bed space after March 1 must cancel by the deadline in their assignment notification.

Standby after March 1, 2024 Returning students still on standby after March 1 will have their housing applications cancelled as space will likely not become available for the 2024-2025 academic year.

*Placement is based on availability and not guaranteed. Students that no longer wish to stay on the standby list must submit a housing application cancellation form to avoid placement and possible rental payment obligations.

Additional Housing Resources for Returning Students

Returning students have various options to explore Auburn’s off campus student housing market. Students are encouraged to visit our Off Campus Housing website to view multiple off campus properties listed on our site.

Additionally, Auburn University Housing will host two off campus housing fairs in the fall and two fairs in the spring. These housing fairs will allow students to visit properties in-person to explore various housing options, and to take advantage of special offers and leasing incentives specifically offered for students participating in the housing fair.

Both housing fairs will be held on the 2nd floor of the Melton Student Center. Our first housing fair will be held on October 10, 2023 from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m. Our second housing fair will be held on November 15, 2023 from 10:00a.m. until 2:00p.m. The dates for our spring housing fairs will be announced later in the fall semester.
