Schmidt (Secretary Elect), Emmett Winn, Bill Hardgrave, Jung Won Hur, Jared Russell, Bob Norton, Michael Baginski (Immediate Past Chair)
Absent: Michael Tillson

Nedret Billor, Senate Chair, called the meeting to order at 3:30pm.

• Approval of the Minutes: Steering Committee Meeting, August 20, 2019-approved by voice vote.
• Approval of Committee Nominees-Roster of Nominees for Senate Committees that need replacements-approved by voice vote.

Presentation: Dual Career Services Guidelines.
Presenter: Julie Huff

• Update on the guidelines being established for spousal hires on campus.
• On campus childcare has been established.
• Guidelines Document-consistent procedures for handling spousal faculty position placement; will go on the Provost’s website.
• Request from Steering Committee to create powerpoint/bullet points for the Senate meeting.

Presentation: Updates on Parking
Presenters: Ron Burgess and Don Andre

• Powerpoint-Task Force Overview
• Parking Task Force Goals
• Task Force is working on recommendations to present in November, with decisions made by December; once decisions are made, the goal is to implement and disseminate information within 6 months.
• Fee increase-not set yet.
• Approval of Senate Meeting Agenda for September 17, 2019-approved by voice vote.

Presentation: Civility (Anti-Bullying) on Campus
Presenter: Kevin Coonrod, Ombudsman

• Civility on Campus
• No comprehensive anti-bullying policy at Auburn
• Topics include Retaliation, Anti-Harassment and Discrimination, Title IX
• Steering Committee recommended some reworking of the presentation (exclude topic of tenured/non-tenured faculty) and focus on what is bullying and civility, and in practical info on what to do when confronted or witnessing this behavior.

Other Business

• Senate website needs updating. Don Mulvaney will chair an ad hoc committee to work on this.
