The first item of business was approval of the September 17, 2015 minutes.

Dawn Sherman reviewed her presentation on Auburn Global at Auburn University. She will do her presentation at the October 6, 2015 faculty meeting. Auburn Global is a partnership between Auburn University and Shorelight Education. Auburn Global strives to recruit, orient and provide support services to international students. The overarching goal is to assist Auburn University in reaching its strategic priority 1. It is a pathway program that is modeled to address academics, professional development and provide student support services. There are 310 students here from around the world.185 are undergraduate level students, 63 graduate and 62 are pre-session. While here they take 1-3 semesters of coursework and 30 hours of Auburn credit before matriculating into the university.

Next item discussed was Higher Education Partnership by Gordon Stone and Brett Johnson. They were formed by the presidents of all 14 Alabama universities and act as an advocacy network for the state's public universitieswith the Alabama legislature. They work on more global policy issues such as the educational trust fund. They work closely with government affairs lobbyists to lobby as well educate others on the value of a public university. They make sure that the legislators hear the story of higher education. Faculty can become members for $12 a year. They will do their presentation at the October 20, 2015 senate meeting.
 
Following was a review of draft agenda items for the General Faculty Meeting on October 6th. The tentative agenda for October 20th was reviewed and it was decided the higher education partnership will come and talk as well as Lisa Kensler on the proposed policy on undergraduate certificates.
