Call to Order

• William Sauser: University Senate Chair called the meeting to order, 
reviewed the rules of the senate, and a quorum was established.

• Minutes from January 15, 2013 Senate Meeting were accepted as posted 
without change. 

Remarks and Announcements
Office of the President
Dr. Gogue, President

Dr. Gogue shared four items with the Senate

1) For the first time in his 5 years at Auburn the Governor’s budget has actually had an increase in higher education. It’s about a 2% increase.

2) Board of Trustee replacements were announced Wayne Smith out of Nashville will replace Sam Ginn, an at-large position and Mike DeMaioribus will replace John Blackwell for the Huntsville area.

3) Three Colleges at Auburn University were ranked in the top ten, nationally, in terms of electronic distance delivery at the gradate level, College of Education, College of Business and College of Engineering.

4) Another student named for the Gates Cambridge Award.

2) The National Searches for four positions, the assistant Provost and Director of the Honors College, the Dean of the College of Veterinary Medicine, the Dean of the College of Science and Math, and the Dean of the College of Liberal Arts
