Help Auburn Develop it's Strategic Plan (updated Nov. 13, 2007)
Auburn is in the process of developing a strategic plan for this decade that will help crystallize the University's aspirations and mission, define its distinctive initiatives, and determine our priorities. Dr Gogue has invited any and all employees to review the following website and to fill out the survey on developing Auburn's strategic plan. The A & P Assembly encourages everyone to do so as well. Nominations for Officer Positions Now Open (updated Nov. 15, 2007)
Nominations for officer positions will be open between November 14 and December 3, 2007. The officers will serve from April 1, 2008 through March 31, 2009. All A & P employees may nominate candidates. Information on the rules and procedures for submitting nominations can be found here.

Assembly Representatives Retreat (updated August 21, 2007)
The Assembly Representatives attended the retreat on Wednesday June 27, 2007 in the Lowder Building, Alabama Power Room. The keynote speaker was Dr. Charlotte Sutton from the College of Business. Dr. Bill Sauser, Associate Dean from the College of Business, was also there to give everyone a refresher on Roberts Rules. The Representatives also broke out into round table discusssions to identify areas and topics the Assembly should focus on. The results of these discussion can be found here.

Survey results (updated July 17,2007)
Thanks to all A&P employees who participated in the on-line survey conducted during May 2007 - 364 people responded. The Assembly used some of the information from the survey for planning purposes during the retreat held for Assembly representatives in June. The summary information was also provided to President Gogue Monday, July 16. The Executive Committee of the Assembly has formed an ad hoc committee to explore ways to respond actively and support those initiatives that were noted to be important to A&P employees through the survey. Input by A&P employees is welcomed and appreciated. See the results of the survey.

Co-pay Free Mammogram Day for AU Employees (updated Sept. 24, 2007)
EAMC will provide a Mammogram Day for AU Employees, set for October 31st. The appointments will be scheduled between 7:30-4:00 with 64 slots open for that day on a first come first served basis. Anyone wanting to take advantage of this offer will need to make an appointment through Colleen Alsobrook at EAMC,  528-4370.  Women who have not had a screening and who's age is 35-39 or those who are over 40 and have not had a screening in the last year are encouraged to set up an appointment.  Transportation can be provided for anyone who needs assistance getting to EAMC. EAMC will file the insurance claim but no co-pay will be collected by EAMC. Spouses are welcomed.

Dr. Jay Gogue to meet with the Assembly (updated September 10, 2007)
Dr. Gogue, AU's 18th President, will meet with the A & P Assembly at the next scheduled Assembly meeting set for Wednesday September 19, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. in the Foy Union Ballroom. A & P Committee nominees will be presented to the Assembly for approval by the Nominations and Elections Committee. Brief Bio's for each nominee are available here. Representative place information (updated July 13, 2007)
At the June 20, 2007 meeting April Staton, representative for Place 13, presented information to the Assembly about Place 13. Other representatives will be presenting at future meetings. The information is also linked from the representatives page.

Call for nominations for A&P Committees (updated July 25, 2007)
The Nominations & Elections committee is seeking nominees for service on A&P committees. Terms run from October 1, 2007 to September 30, 2010 unless otherwise noted. Openings on the committees follows:

  • Nominations & Elections - 6 (3 three-year terms; 1 two-year; 2 one-year)
  • Professional Development - 5 (3 three-year terms; 2 one-year terms)
  • Welfare - 3 three-year terms
  • Calendar & Schedules - 2 (1 three, 1 two-year)
  • Grievance - 5 (Must represent the following V-P areas: Outreach; Alumni, Research; Student Affairs; Executive V-P.

Next Meeting June 20, 2007 - President Richardson to speak.
The next A & P Assembly meeting will be held on June 20, 2007 at 1:00pm in the Broun Hall Auditorium. President Richardson will address the Assembly. All A & P employees are encouraged to attend. Here is the full agenda.

University Committee Openings (updated May 2, 2007)
The Nominations & Elections committee is seeking nominees for A&P representatives on University Committees to submit to the Office of the President. Two names will be submitted for each opening and the President will make the appointments. Term of service is two years. The committees with openings are:

  • Advisory Committee for a Drug-free Campus and Workplace;
  • Campus Health & Wellness;
  • Campus Recreation;
  • Concessions Board;

next meeting Constitution Revision approved by President Richardson (updated May 4, 2007)
Word has been received that President Richardson has approved the revisions to the A&P Constitution removing Grievance Procedure and changing the number of absenses allowed representatives from Assembly meetings.

Results of Constitution Revision voting (updated January 30, 2007)
At the called meeting of the A&P Assembly held Tuesday January 23, 2007, two revisions to the A&P Constitution were approved by A&P employees present and will become effective on approval by the President of Auburn University. The vote to increase the number of absences allowed representatives from one to two was 36 Yes and 6 No. The vote to replace Article VI with a statement about the grievance policy was approved by 41 Yes and 1 No. For more details of the meeting and discussion click on the link to the minutes.

Please be advised that the grievance procedure that appears in the A&P Constitution is no longer current nor accurate. The policy established by President Richardson, effective March 1,2006, can be found in the Personnel Policies and Procedures Manual, Section 8.6.

The next meeting of the A&P Assembly will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2007, at 2:30 PM in 213 Foy Union. Lynne Hammond, Assistant VP for Human Resources, and Chuck Gerards, Director, Compensation & Classification, HR, will update the Assembly on the AU Classification and Compensation Project and the Appeals Process. Nominations will be received February 12-19 for representatives for the following places on the A&P Assembly for terms running from April 1, 2007 to March 31, 2010:

Place 1 – Office of the President, including the following units: AA/EEO, HR, Communications and Marketing ktg, Gen Coun, Govt Affairs, Internal Auditing, Multicultural Affairs, President's Office, Risk Mgmt & Safety, Sec. to Board of Trustees. (President and Executive Vice-President)

Place 5 – ACES and Outreach, including the following units: Alabama Cooperative Extension System, Center for Government Services, Economic Development Institute, Outreach Program Office. (VP-Outreach)

Place 6 – Information Technology (Provost)

Place 7 – Development (VP-Development)

Place 9 – College of Business/ College of Science & Math (Provost)

Place 15 – College of Agriculture, Agricultural Experiment Stations

Deadline for receipt of nominations is Monday, February 19, 2007. Nominations can be made by any A&P employee. A&P employees interested in servind may nominate themselves. Only employees in designated areas will vote to elect their representatives. Because of the HR change to Banner, voting will be done by paper ballot during the week of March 9-16. Ballots will be distributed through campus mail

Nominations should be forwarded to the A&P Nominations and Elections committee apnecom@auburn.edu. Nominations should be accompanied by a brief BIO of the person being nominated. The BIO Form can be downloaded from in Word or PDF format

The 2007-08 officers of the A&P Assembly will be elected Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the regular meeting to be held in 213 Foy Union at 2:30 PM. The following officers will be elected: Chair-elect; Secretary; and three (3) Executive committee members at large. Any A&P employee may nominate candidates. Only representatives will vote. Called meeting (updated December 14, 2006)
There will be a called meeting of the Administrative and Professional Assembly to be held Tuesday, January 23, 2007, at 2:30 PM, 213 Foy, for the purpose of voting on two revisions to the A&P Constitution: (1) Increasing the number of absences allowed representatives; and (2) language resolving discrepency related to grievance policy adopted by AU administration and the A&P Constitution. There is also a summary document with text of both recommendations and detatils related to the Grievance policy recommendation.

Secretary election results (updated November 30, 2006)
Congratulations to Julie Nolen, Office of Development, and Place 7, who was elected Secretary at the November 28 meeting. She serves the unexpired term ending March 31, 2007.

Called meeting (updated November 13, 2006)
There will be a called meeting of the Administrative and Professional Assembly to be held Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 3:30 PM, 213 Foy, for the purpose of electing a Secretary to serve the remainder of the unexpired term ending March 31,2007. The election is necessary because of the resignation of the Secretary. Candidates for the office of Secretary are: Julie Nolen, Office of Development and John Owen, College of Agriculture. The consititution requires 15 days notice to the Assembly.
