Opened in August 2008, the Harold D. Melton Student Center is the Auburn Family's home away from home. Spanning 184,000 square feet, the facility provides a dynamic space for student meeting rooms, study areas, lounges, offices, dining options, and other student-focused services. Conveniently located near the heart of campus, the Student Center fosters community, collaboration, and engagement among students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Student Center is named in honor of Harold D. Melton, an Auburn alumnus who made history as the university's first Black Student Government Association president. He later went on to serve as the 32nd Chief Justice of the Georgia Supreme Court, leaving a lasting legacy of leadership, service, and dedication to justice. In addition to serving as a gathering place for students, the Harold D. Melton Student Center is home to the Office of the Senior Vice President for Student Affairs, the Student Involvement Office, Student Organizations, a variety of dining options, including Chick-fil-A and Starbucks. The facility also offers essential student services, featuring a state-of-the-art game room and the James E. Foy Information Deska long-standing campus resource providing students and visitors with directions, general information, and even answers to almost any question. The Foy Information Desk named in honor of former Auburn University Dean of Students James E. Foy has been a beloved Auburn tradition for decades, embodying the university's commitment to hospitality and student support. Whether attending an event, meeting with student organizations, grabbing a meal, or finding a quiet place to study, students can experience a welcoming and inclusive environment designed to support their academic and personal growth.
