Access Control operates an extensive computer management system for keys, carts, and biometrics that provides this service to campus. The primary function of access Control is to provide a secure environment for students, faculty, staff and guests of Auburn University.
Asbestos Control

Asbestos Control

Asbestos Control assists in the repair of pipes, tanks and other places where asbestos containing material is found. The Asbestos Control tests for and removes asbestos containing material (ACM) as needed for the safe operation of university systems. All work is done according to State, Federal and University removal regulations. Above all, the Asbestos Control is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for students, faculty and staff.
Automotive Shop

Automotive Shop

The Automotive Shop maintains and repairs all Facilities Management vehicles and repairs other university owned vehicles as requested. The Automotive Shop also provides service to the Auburn University Department of Public Safety vehicles and other university owned vehicles on campus providing service to the campus. The central function of the Automotive Shop is to provide safe and reliable transportation to those supporting the students, faculty and staff.

The Office of Campus Planning & Space Management is responsible for the development of procedures for campus planning, capital project planning, and space management which incorporate, amplify, and complement existing policies for the main campus and other properties.

Carpentry Shop

The Carpentry Shop maintains building structures and interior components for buildings on campus. They provide repair service for classrooms, offices, and public access areas throughout the year. They provide special service to classrooms during semester breaks. The Carpentry Shop is on call 24 hours and they handle emergencies as they arise. The key function of the Carpentry Shop is to ensure that the best possible learning, teaching and research environment is provided to the students, faculty and staff.
Certificate of Appreciation

Certificate of Appreciation

Certificates of Appreciation recognizes Facilities Management employees for a one-time act of outstanding performance. Employees earning the Certificate of Appreciation receive a four-hour paid leave slip to be used within one month of receiving the award. This time off must be coordinated with the employee's direct supervisor. The recipient's name will be placed on the Certificate of Appreciation Board.

The Classroom Building Coordinators oversee the daily operations of the assigned classroom buildings to ensure the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained and operated at a high level. The key function of the Classroom Building Coordinators is to provide the best possible learning, teaching and research environment for the students, faculty and staff.

The Construction Management group provides leadership and management services in pursuit of excellence in the construction of new facilities and renovation of existing facilities for Auburn University. This is accomplished through comprehensive project management, rigorous safety and quality controls, and attentive dedication to project clients, schedules, and budgets.

Custodial Services

In-House Custodial Services' primary function is to provide a safe, clean and healthy environment for students, faculty, and staff of the University. We provide service from 5:00 am - 12:30 am Monday - Friday in academic, classroom and laboratory buildings. We also provide 24 hour, seven days a week emergency on call services.

Design Services

The mission of Design Services is to provide professional architecture and engineering expertise in the areas of project scope development, design phase project management, in-house design, quality control, construction documents archive, and maintenance and operations assistance in support of Auburn University's Vision and Mission.
Electrical Shop

Electrical Shop

The Electrical Shop supplies electrical service within buildings throughout campus. The Electrical Shop makes repairs to equipment and restores power in the event of incidental power outages within buildings on the secondary side of transformers. They maintain and keep operative all exit and emergency lighting. The Electrical Shop is on call 24 hours per day to keep power supplied at its optimal level. The primary function of the Electrical Shop is to provide a safe and well lit environment for students, faculty and staff.

Auburn Facilities Management has an employee recognition program that recognizes excellence in the areas of team work, safety, cost reduction, customer service, support and leadership excellence, technical-professional skill and craftsmanship. An Employee Recognition Committee handles the awarding of Certificates of Appreciation, Tiger Tickets, and Tigers of the Year. The Employees of the Year are selected by Dan King, Assistant Vice President of Facilities Management.

Service Support offers Equipment Rental and Setups for the campus community. Items such as folding chairs, folding tables, risers, and podiums are available for Homecoming, Registration, Concerts, Graduations and other university sponsored events.

The Facilities Financial Services Department provides financial services support for Facilities Management and to our numerous non-Facilities clients through tracking of project costs, transfers of funding, etc. Our department oversees the operating budget of approximately $40 million, plus some $600 million in construction costs at any given time. We take pride in being highly responsive to both our internal and external customers/clients.

Its multi skilled work force enables it to provide quick response with minimal or no design in order to meet the immediate needs of Auburn University. Typical projects include ADA access issues, Electrical Work, Fire Alarms, Office Renovations, Laboratory Renovations and Classroom Renovations.

Materials Management maintains receiving warehouse operations at Building Six for Facilities Management. Functions include material buying with online system generated material request processes. Inventory Control with MRO products in support of Facilities Departments and campus needs with quick response for service and maintenance supplies, thus providing a safe, secure and comfortable campus for students, faculty and staff.
Mechanical Shop

Mechanical Shop

The Mechanical Shop provides heating, cooling, ventilation, duct installation and repair to the campus. They provide a preventive maintenance team that changes the air filters and cleans the mechanical systems throughout campus. They insulate chilled water lines, hot water lines, steam lines and other lines as needed. The Mechanical Shop has a technician on campus 24 hours per day, 7 days per week and has other people on call 24 hours per day. The primary function of the Mechanical Shop is to provide a comfortable environment for the students, faculty and staff.

Office of University Architect

Office of University Architect

The mission of the University Architect is to develop and manage the staff of facilities design services and the external consulting groups who work in support of our mission by establishing overall procedures, guidelines and standards and enforcing adherence for the Auburn University Campus facilities.
Paint Shop

Paint Shop

The Paint Shop handles the interior and exterior painting of buildings on campus. They refinish (stain and paint) old and new furniture and cabinets, finish and patch sheetrock prior to painting. The goal of the Paint Shop is to provide an aesthetically pleasing environment for the students, faculty and staff.
Pest Services

Pest Services

Our Contractor is to provide all necessary management, supervision, labor, materials, supplies, equipment and vehicles to implement a comprehensive, up-to-date, Integrated Pest Management Program to accomplish the surveillance, trapping, pesticide application, and pest removal components of the program. Auburn University expects that at least one full-time person will be assigned to this contract. Normal work hours for the pest control and related work shall be 7:30AM to 4:30PM, Monday through Friday.

The Plumbing Shop maintains all plumbing fixtures in restrooms, laboratories and kitchen areas. The Plumbing Shop maintains pipe systems for domestic water, sanitary sewage, heating and cooling supply lines, high-pressure airlines, vacuum lines, natural gas lines and other pipes as needed. They insure that all plumbing fixtures and pipes are installed and maintained according to building codes and safety requirements. The primary function of the Plumbing Shop is to provide a comfortable and safe environment for students, faculty and staff.
Preventive Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance

Preventive Maintenance has four zones with crews that work primarily on second shift, performing extensive preventive and predictive maintenance on nearly 10,000 pieces of equipment in over 100 major Facilities managed buildings on main campus. Also, the Preventive Maintenance department performs room inspections on each room of each building and reports findings through the work order system. Another function of the Preventive Maintenance department is to perform quality assurance inspections on mechanical equipment. The primary responsibility of the Preventive Maintenance department is to find and repair problems before building occupants have to call in work orders and to provide a safe and functional environment for students, faculty and staff.

The mission of Auburn University's Waste Reduction and Recycling Department is to provide waste reduction opportunities and quality routine recycling services to campus clients and during special events on the University campus. We strive to be a client focused department, one that is dedicated to promoting our services and educating the campus and surrounding community. Our goal is to reduce the environmental impact of waste and effectively manage the lifecycle of current and future resources.

Roofing Shop

The Roofing Shop repairs and replaces roof systems as needed on campus. They pressure-wash sidewalks and clean building exteriors as needed. The Roofing Shop cleans and inspects roof surfaces, roof drains and downspouts in order to insure proper operation, and they are on call 24 hours per day. The primary function of the Roofing Shop is to provide a safe, dry and clean environment for the students, faculty and staff.

The Facilities Management Safety Office coordinates the development, implementation and audits of comprehensive safety and health programs that allow Facilities Management employees to protect themselves from hazards they may encounter while perfoming their daily job duties.

The Sign Shop makes and installs interior and exterior signage according to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards and requirements across campus. They paint and repaint traffic lines and make and install traffic and directional signs on campus roadways. The primary function of the Sign Shop is to provide the necessary signage and directional information to ensure a safe and functional environment for the students, faculty and staff.

Tiger Ticket

Tiger Ticket

Tiger Tickets recognize Facilities Employees with consistent outstanding job performance. Tiger Ticket recipients receive an eight-hour paid leave slip to be used within one month of receiving the award. This time off must be coordinated with the employee's direct supervisor. Recipients will also receive an invitation to an awards luncheon and a polo shirt which may be worn on Fridays in place of their required uniform. The recipient's name will be placed on the Tiger Ticket Board. All Tiger Ticket recipients will qualify as nominees for the Tiger of the Year.
Tigers of the Year

Tigers of the Year

Tigers of the Year recognize the top three Tiger Ticket recipients as the most outstanding employees of the year. These will be awarded at the end of the year and chosen from the Tiger Ticket recipients awarded throughout the calendar year. The Tiger of the Year Award is given to the Tiger Ticket recipient that has displayed exemplary efforts on behalf of Facilities Management in the past year. Two honorable mentions will be given to two runner-ups to the Tiger of the Year recipient. The awards for these honors will be presented at the annual Christmas dinner.

Utilities Services

Utilities Services

Utilities Services is responsible for operating and maintaining the domestic water, natural gas, sanitary sewer and storm utility systems for the University. The city provides domestic water through seven master meter points which is then distributed through an underground piping system throughout campus. Alabama Gas provides natural gas through two master meters which is then distributed through an underground piping system throughout campus. Both distribution systems are maintained by the Utility Services department.
